Even with a whisky as revered as Laphroaig, one can imagine how much the distillery team must dream of experimenting with it. Laphroaig has allowed their imagination to run wild with this unique Laphroaig Elements 1.0, which they’ve shared only with Friends of Laphroaig. We’re fortunate to have a few bottles to share with you. Three things distinguish this Laphroaig. - It’s made from 100% Islay peated malt. - They’ve married together the results of an old way of mashing with a new way. - They’ve combined semi-cloudy wort, which is smoky and fruity, with cloudy wort, which is very smoky - usually, they only use semi-cloudy wort. The result is a bold, smoky and peppery Laphroaig with underlying waves of strawberry sweetness. Laphroaig Elements 1.0 has notes of strawberry biscuit, burnt ham, pronounced maritime peatiness, burnt pineapple, liquorice, black pepper and bonfire embers and comes at a strength of 58.6% ABV. This is a sweet, warming and powerfully smoky whisky.
