Hugh C. Robertson grew up in a family of trained English ceramicists, making his artistic pursuits – and founding of Dedham Pottery – something of a rite of passage. At the turn of the 20th century, he was one of the key figures of American art pottery, renowned for the colours and textures of his glazes. This pitcher, with its blue and white crackle glaze, is a beautiful example of his work.
