Knoll Wassily Lounge Chair - Utility Design Knoll Studio
BrandKnoll Studio
Description
The Knoll Wassily Lounge Chair (originally known as the B3 Chair) by Marcel Breuer was designed in 1925 for Wassily Kandinsky's quarters at the Dessau Bauhaus. This chair totally transformed traditional chair design - the heavy upholstery of a comfortable armchair was replaced by planes of tightly stretched leather and the frame introduced a revolutionary use of tubular steel which was to be adopted by other designers as a symbol of modernity for many years to come. Considered a design classic this is the original chair, manufactured by Knoll, and comes available black, light brown and white beige cowhide as well as natural canvas and a choice of Haired Hides in various colours.
