This digital card reader has a lightweight foot for vertical desktop use and an integrated sticky pad for alternative mounting. Downloading data The tacho card reader simply connects to the PC via the attached USB Cable and data can be easily downloaded and stored within your PC for reporting later. If you don't already have data storing software, you will need to purchase this along with your tacho card reader, you can view our data software here. This enables you to revisit and reanalyse data stored at any point. This device is ideal for reading driver cards and is designed to meet all major standards e.g. USB CCID, PC/SC, and HBCI. To record all your driving data, by law you are required to download your tacho card data every 28 days and your vehicle unit data every 90 days. Although downloading both data more frequently is advised to ensure you have regular backups. The installed vehicle unit can store information on drivers and their driving periods for 12 months. It also holds data relating to speeding, tampering, and when the data has been viewed by police or the DVSA. There are 4 types of tachograph cards: Driver Card Company Card Workshop Card Control Card You must hold a driver card if you are driving a vehicle fitted with a digital tachograph, you can apply for a card via the DVLA website. Please note: This product is simply the tool which takes data from your Driver Card. It is important to note that you will also require an Analysis Service or data viewing software with which to read the information.
