Thriving in poor sandy or chalky soils, Asphodeline 'Yellow Candle' is a handsome but rarely seen perennial which delivers spring impact with its strong vertical flower spikes. Clumps of blue-green, strap-like foliage produce sturdy spires bearing bright yellow, star-shaped, fragrant flowers. Flowering from April to June, it makes a bold specimen for rock gardens, dry borders or Mediterranean-themed areas. Drought-tolerant once established, it also copes with salty winds in coastal sites. Height 80cm (31in). Spread: 60cm (24in).
