Description
Garous rugs use magnificent natural dyes and hand spoon wool, making them an excellent new decorative production of hand-knotted carpets. These rugs are a new production of old Persian Garous, Mahal and Ziegler designs, created around 1880 to 1920 in Mahal, Central Persia. An Anglo-Swiss company put Persian Ziegler into production, and back in the day almost all of them have been exported to wealthy western homes. Today, the Persian Ziegler rug, have become very sought after for their decorative look. They are also challenging to find in good condition and can attract very high premiums. Since 1990 we have started working with skilled Afghan weavers using Garous, Mahal and Zeigler designs to create a new production. Our Garous rugs are 100% hand-knotted. Also, we exclusively use handspun gazani wool (which give the carpet texture and sheen) and some natural dyes (which have slight colour change within each colour). The designs are mostly open, with floral sprays in the borders, soft tones and sometimes a faded look, to give the impression of an older carpet. Garous rugs represent excellent value for hand-knotted carpets and will provide many years of pleasure.
