Rock Island Chinese Year of the Dragon - Cask Strength

Rock Island Chinese Year of the Dragon - Cask Strength

BrandRock Island
Description
Not many people know that the Chinese Year of the Dragon refers to the wood dragon. Douglas Laing, renowned independent bottler, took this year’s celebration, 2024, as an opportunity to offer up a real ‘wood dragon’ of a whisky. Douglas Laing’s ‘Rock Island’ series shares with you the whiskies from Scotland’s whisky islands - the islands of Scotland that have distilleries - whiskies with a salty, oceanic freshness. Rock Island Chinese Year of the Dragon - Cask Strength is a cask-strength blended malt, blended from the celebrated single malts of Islay, Jura, Arran and Orkney. It’s finished in heavily charred casks called crocodile casks, allowing the spirit to deeply penetrate the wood and extract its rich flavour. It has flavours of ashy bonfire embers, grilled pineapple, peat smoke, sea salt, caramelised sugar, barbequed banana, brown sugar, coconut and caramel. It comes at a cask strength of 54.8% ABV. It is of natural colour and non-chill filtered. This is an intense and complex whisky.
