Pair of China bowls decorated with details from 'The Blossoming Almond Tree', one of Vincent Van Gogh’s (1853-1890) most recognised paintings. Painted in Saint-Remy (1890) where Van Gogh favoured the warmth and brighter light. Almond trees blossom in spring and often symbolise new life. Van Gogh painted it as a gift for his brother Theo and wife after the birth of their son. 'The Blossoming Almond Tree' is currently on display at the Van Gogh Museum.
