VARIOUS-JAZZ The Big Challenge (1963 UK 7-track mono LP pitting the Trumpet of Cootie Williams the Cornet of Rex Stewart the Tenor Saxes of Coleman Hawkins & Bud Freeman and the Trombones of Lawrence Brown & J.C. Higginbotham together over a quality rhythm section containing Hank Jones on Piano Billy Bauer on Guitar Milt Hinton on Bass & Gus Johnson on Drums. The arrangements are mostly for trio soloists in turn but some tracks feature the soloists together. The front laminated f lipback picture sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear with a bit of edge scuffing & the vinyl is excellent - a nice copy!
